An answer in an anecdote… I once knew a man who taught pursuit driving to the local police, the art and science of the high speed chase. Among his first lessons was one that had nothing to do with automobiles, it had to do with understanding human nature. “I don’t have to outrun you” he would say, “to push you into making the first fatal mistake.”

So long as America is fool enough, beguiled and bs’d and manipulated enough, to think of China as “chasing” possesion of the vaunted and now largely legend of some American dream then our fear of that pursuit will sooner or later cause us to misjudge a corner leading to that first fatal mistake. And anyway, the trailing car always has the advantage of observing how the road treated the car in front of them.

Equally, contemplate that what China is driving originally came from America… the AFL/CIO to be specific. Post Mao China, courtesy of their Communist internal structure, was able to reemerge directly onto the world iindustrial stage bypassing the west’s assumed 3rd world status to rise to dominance as the single largest labor union ever formed. They set the world’s Capitalist ecomies as “the corporation” and then set China as one huge local… mind your manners and we’ll do our best by you and yours, but make trouble and you’ll find out just how long and strong the shop steward’s arm really is.

Watchman, what of the night?
