If I were one of the educated elite empowered with a viable opinion (PLEASE note the disconnected sarcasm of my opening!) I might point out that in a time of social evolution’s mandatory change a total distrust of expertise, and the “experts” who offer it, is a solid survival tactic. To be an “expert” in the social realms is to have demonstrated superlative competence…in the very things that constitute what evolution is in the process of demoting if not completely replacing.
But alas, I am not. I’m just another displaced and betrayed factory rat who, as the Boss said in his song, endures the mixed blessing of having been Born in the USA.
