*chuckle* The researchers mentioned in this article have a totally terrible problem. To even begin to consider education as a factor in who marries/mates with who demands considering a factor that is absolutely verboten taboo in the realms of Academia, to wit, the influence of the autodidactic, the self educated. Just because the knowledge that balances the confidence in competence, shared between those in a load bearing relationship, wasn’t purchased from an Empire sanctioned franchise (aka university) doesn’t mean the individuals in focus are not in possesion of said knowledge!
From my observations, outside of Academia looking in as it were, it seems to me that the mental pigeon holing involved -with any degree program, particularly one in the subjective and opinion laden humanities, does a decent job of emulating the restrictions and limitations involved with adhering to the stereotypic gender roles. What’s the difference between “a good wife does…” and “an educated person will…” ?
I’m coming to believe some people are just flat allergic to mental freedom, and statistics of the sort quoted in this article compare nicely to the daily pollen count.
