I’d say they influenced each other but I highly doubt they met. He had after all been writing about the subject long before she had. And as the experts say- there’s no way of knowing whose notes the govt gave to Steinbeck had the most influence. But clearly the publishers screwed her over…. I just wonder why it took her 40 yrs to make her claims.
