not a surprise at all. My parents were the product of the great depression- and they demanded we eat every scrap of food from our plates. We heard all of the horror stories of the depression and starving kids in Africa etc. And whenever you went to someone’s house in the 60/70s the parents would always ask if you wanted something to eat. Grandparents didnt ask… they just shoved food in front of you and you were expected to eat it. Thats why so many Americans today are obese… In Europe they dont have take home boxes at restaurants- if you dont finish it you leave it. In USA its almost mandatory to take some home…. When I lived in Europe they were horrified at the idea… while we were shocked at their wastefulness!
