There is a point the author did not touch on which I’ve found to be a rather accurate litmus test for the presence of an “elite” mindset among the general population: those who consider themselves elite are far and away more likely to place credible value on the subjective, matters of opinion where the s.i.c “social capitol” is a viable currency.

But the counter is not so very hard. It involves those who are not counted among the social elite setting a reverse boycott in place and utterly and completely refusing to exchange any value whatsoever with the elite, the Amish concept of “shun” executed on a society wide scale. It might be comical, in a pathetic sort of way, to see just how elite they really are when they have to do it themselves or do without.

Watchman, what of the night?
