Somehow Peer Gynt would seem the logical choice for a theme song to represent the 2024 elections. All the pieces are in play, the plot and characters of the modern all have a corollary in the much older work of fiction, and most importantly, the Finnish band Apocalyptica does an awesome job with “In the Halls of the Mountain King” … played in a big hair head banging bare chested heavy metal style that might even put flame over the dead and dying embers of two political parties who have run their course and are both teetering ten toes over inheriting Peer’s fate… being banished for kidnapping the soul of the land.
