A very interesting read, thanks for publishing it. I still maintain that saying “social” and ” science” in the same sentence is an oxymoron, a position I’ll defend ( but not in a comment block! :-). In a great many ways the basic principles and tenants of good Science are not suitable to address the massive complexity (as the math folk use the word) of the human dynamic where a true fact is almost impossible to acquire.
That said, there needs to be a way to differentiate between the various levels and layers of opinion: those founded on the first reality of personal experiences and those derived from a considered study of the second reality, the external to self common reality, shared by all. IMO a good work for a consortium of linguists and philosophers to engage with while locked in a castle in Scotland… but that’s mostly just sarcasm at play.
