To my reading of this article the “researchers” were on well charted terrain, nothing new at all. What sets this research different would be who is able to read the report. In their case, and unlike the first crew, the general public would have access to the thought by way of a magazine publication. The first folks who did this research did not publish, if they submitted their efforts for peer review you don’t want to be associated with those they call peers. The first crew reported in secret to those who would be using their findings as weapons of covert cultural warfare to induce and incite the very attitudes and beliefs this article cites as the causes of societal distress. But, go figure. Social Psychology is a weapon, and cause distress is what weapons are intended to do.
