    By what these gents were discussing I’d say AI is far more of a threat to the Inventor than to the Scientist. Where those two play very well together they are not the same functionality, not at all. The inventor is the imaginative visionary, the scientist the pragmatic realist. You can educate a person to be a scientist, but inventors are evolved creatures created from equal amounts of dissatisfied rebellion and a strangely passive aggressive mindset concerning the status quo who fight their fight from an understanding of the laws of nature.

    That AI is such a valuable tool to the realms of science is actually, if you think about it, a rather scalding condemnation of what modern society has done to the core ability that defined the human rise to planetary dominance: the function of a pro-active intelligent imagination.
