Nah, if Trump and company were trying to kill higher education they’d go about it in a quite different manner. You don’t kill elephants using a .22 caliber rifle loaded with rat shot (which is essentially what they’re doing). You don’t kill an idea with anything but a better idea.
The better idea? By Presidential executive order commission the department of weights and measures, standards, to construct a series of full spectrum tests to be administered on federal property (all those closed social security offices?) in absolutely proctored rooms… NO EXTERNAL COMM POSSIBE, ACTIVE RF SHEILDED, and of course no cell phones or other digital device… just the human and what the human knows. Have that human’s responses graded by a committee of on the market AI servers chosen by random point of login, the AI’s task: analysing the human’s response to establish what percentage of what YOU have access to on this subject would it appear this human has a working command of? Three major AI’s should make a fine committee to sit a “run what you brung” set of orals ( yes, please do think the academic meaning and not the sexual)… and then to put some fang and claw into the whole affair? Offer no tax break to an industry or individual where a professional position is filled without such a federally certified level of competence.
THAT… is the kind of weapon you use to break Empire Academia. Perhaps name the weapon the Enola Project.
