Today I learned::Ira Hayes
Ira Hayes was a Native American United States Marine who served in World War II. He was born in 1923 and died in 1955 at the age of 32. During his time in the Marines, he fought bravely and helped to raise the flag on Iwo Jima during one of the most famous battles of WWII. After returning home from war, he struggled with PTSD and alcoholism but continued to be an advocate for Native American rights until his death. He is remembered as a hero for his bravery and patriotism.
