A thoughtful article by people who make thinking their business.

The title is accurate, late to the game, and not the first event of it’s kind. This one is from the outside, the first one was an inside job from within the structure… a very key point that needs recognized.

A large part of this problem is that it is only being considered from the first person POV of “the university” when in fact the problem originates from a much larger political domain. I say Empire Academia to set a workable framework around Higher Education’s function within the macroscopic society.

Considered in that context the socio-political position of a, any, university is a mid level entity. To use a fuedalistic analogy a single university resolves as a fiefdom, a barrony, which is the vassal of the various College Kingdoms… Kingdom of Psychology, Kingdom of Engineering etc et al… within the Empire. Any one of the Universities, even the oldest and most prestigious, is a small enough unit to be an expendable appology under the circumstances where one of one Kingoms has so offended and insulted the prevailing culture that said culture has turned and attacked the Empire. Empire Academia resides in the region bridging social and governmental, CULTURE is in fact a lower level, and therefore more powerful, collective entity than either of the other two. PsuedoMath? Culture > Society > Government.

What is being seen is ceCulture hiring ceGovernment to fight mercenary and avenge the insult the Kingdom of Psychology inflicted in half a dozen ways… all of which resolve to be the youthful arrogance of the YOUNGEST Kingdom within the Empire.

Academia: understand what is actually going on, or prepare to suffer.
