I stopped grading my student’s assignments years ago using the very similar methods and concepts as this article suggests with greatly improved involvement and higher student performance. I had success with heuristics and establishing objectives with my students who were able to establish how successful they were in meeting goals they set. As the article also says, I was obliged to submit a performance merit to the educational institution for their purposes. My courses were in Journalism, Organizational Behavior, and Graphic Design at the undergraduate University level. I found that my students were more critical of themselves than an objective person because they were aware of what they wanted to achieve rather than what they appeared to accomplish. Performance assessment and evaluation was both summative and performative. I found my experience quite flexible and greatly rewarding.
