The Study Finds Daily:LINKS

4-5 minutes

Hello StudyFinders! Feast your eyes on your fabulous Friday Five!

ROBOTS: Are robots a step closer to having real human brains? Not exactly, but scientists have made a technological breakthrough by creating lab-grown artificial neurons (brain cells). No longer sci-fi fodder, the neurons could be the future of medicine or the first step in making robots with human-like brains. They could also lead to a better understanding of Alzheimer’s and other neurological diseases — potentially leading to new treatments. Our non-artificial neurons are wondering how this is even possible. Thank goodness it's all explained for us in the post!

MINUTES: Got six minutes to spare each day? Looking to avoid having Alzheimer's down the road? Guess what -- new research shows that you can slash those odds considerably using those six extra minutes! What do you do during those six minutes? Exercise of course! Now look, we know that working out is a brutal, miserable chore for many of us -- but JUST 6 MINUTES is all you need here, folks. If your brain is quickly formulating an excuse, tell it to shut its trap!

MINUTES: OK look, if you've got six minutes to spare, that means you've got five minutes to spare. And if you've got five minutes to spare, then get up and go for a walk! Well, put your shoes and jacket it on first, we don't want you to catch a sniffle. Seriously though, if you've got one of those jobs that keeps your on your tush all day, you'll be doing your body all sorts of wonders if you take a quick five minute walk every half hour. Researchers at Cornell University say it's just the tonic for better longterm health. Yes, that means you need more than five minutes a day, but c'mon, who doesn't want to take lots of 5-minute walks? Your bottom will thank you!

MEGA MILLIONS: Got a ticket for Friday night's $1.35 BILLION Mega Millions jackpot? Let's just say you happen to win. (You really probably won't). Do you know how much you'll actually be adding into your bank account after taxes are taken out (and not including what you splurge on that Corvette you've always dreamed of having)? Whoever ends up winning will definitely beat the odds, since the odds of winning the Mega Millions grand prize are 302 million-to-one! Hey, you’ve gotta be in it to win it, right? Unfortunately, your time as a billionaire won’t last very long, once you factor in all the taxes the government will be deducting. We've done the math for you and can tell you just how much you can expect to earn.

FOSY: What in the world is FOSY, you ask? (You should know we wondered the same thing when we were sent this study.) We will tell you, partly because we don't want you to suffer from FOMO. (If you don't know FOMO, you're just not hip with the times.)  Anyhoo, FOSY is the "fear of saying yes," and it turns out a lot of folks are dealing with this. And here we thought it was too hard to say "no" to people!
