'80s Holiday Decor Trends We Rarely See Now

By  Silvia Fernandez 3-4 minutes 12/15/2025

The ’80s Christmas decoration trends were just like everything else in that decade: bold, shiny, and a little over the top. Homes glowed with blinking light boxes, metallic garlands, and trees so floked they looked carved from snow cones. It was cozy, busy, and loud in the best possible way.

Most of those looks have faded, just like VHS and mall fountains, but the memories are still there. You can almost hear the chaser lights, smell the potpourri, and feel the static from all that tinsel. These are the trends that made Christmas sparkle then, and rarely show up now.
