Let's talk about one of my absolute favorite sagas of the year: the completely botched paint job on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
As you probably remember, this whole ordeal started when the water turned a cartoonish shade of green.
Shortly after, that bright "American Flag Blue" paint job started flaking off in big ol' chunks.

But instead of calling out the supposed bad paint job, Donald Trump claimed the damage was the work of vandals: "The 350 foot gash, made by a very sharp knife or razors, is actually numerous slashes over a very long 350 foot length. It was purposefully and criminally done, and somebody had to work very hard, probably in the dark of night, to create such a condition."
He immortalized these "vandals" in his 4th of July post: "The Reflecting Pool looks great, despite all it went through with the Vandal Thugs."
He then promised he would "quickly drain and fix the damage done."
Well, the pool has officially been drained!

After it was drained, Trump once again changed his story. The slashes are not 300 feet long, they're apparently 300 yards long!
"The slashes were 300 yards long, and the floor of the pool was cut and then pulled upward, with great force, by these thugs. The Parks Department had to empty the water in order to fix the water tight basin. It will be refilled and put back into service soon."

Hmm...
Matt Rein, a director at the Democrats, did some sleuthing around the monument and found "no sign" of any gashes.
He added in another post, "A worker even told me that he did not see anything of the sort, either."
One thing he did notice: "Lots of dirt and grime."
Now, let's look at the online response to this all!

Other people are posting pictures of the cars going through the monument before it was first filled: "Here are the Vandals Donald. Arrest them now."
And finally, Congressperson Ted Lieu asked, "Hear me out and I know it’s hard to fathom, but is it just possible that trump is lying?"
