Before 2016, when the London Underground began running a 24hr service on Fridays and Saturdays, workers and revellers had to catch the last Tube home or rely on a night bus or a taxi. “The project I undertook all those years ago was at times a challenge, but looking back on the work and seeing how the images have gained value over time, I’m really glad I stuck with it,” says Mark McEvoy.
He needs your help. “I’m looking to track down any of the commuters I photographed back then to see what they were up to then and where their lives have taken them since. Please get in contact if you see yourself or anyone you know in the photos!”

“This couple were nuzzling up to each other, and when I asked if I could take a picture, they said yes straight away and started kissing. It was kind of a performance, but then it wasn’t. They thought: oh, this guy’s asked to take a picture; come on, let’s give him this. Or maybe they were about to kiss anyway.”
