The very old saying goes “a fly born in vinegar knows nothing sweeter.” From that easily defended assertion I’d say what the intrepid researchers have actually demonstrated is that those who have no point of comparison really can’t be asked to make a subjective comparison to something they’ve never personally witnessed, much less experienced.

Or, to be psuedo-scientific picky in an academic manner, just exactly how did you guys go about filtering for pre-existing biases caused by unhappy life experiences (in either direction)? It only stands to reason that children of failed monogamy would have a better chance in a poly relationship… far less baggage to deal with from mommy and daddy’s divorce when they were all of seven or eight. And vice versa, of course. When poly affairs blow up the bitterness and recrimination is multiplied by the number of those parting ways.

Or to be just a bit MOTO? Sleeping arrangements really don’t do much by way of enhancing the basic emotional maturity needed for any long term load bearing relationship.
