Being raised Christian is why I am not a Christian.
Dried up dogma and fairy tales, cliques in the churches.
Many living under the Law NOT Grace.

In a small town I saw the same pious people from Sunday,
acting like bitches and bastards the rest of the week.
Screwing other people’s spouses. Making kids cry.

Getting your stay out of hell ticket punched on Easter
and Christmas. I once told a preacher at a Sunrise Easter
service, that I saw happier people at a funeral. He went Ape Shit.

Intelligent Design made this? Where the Christian Right
worships Trump? I don’t think so. Tens of thousands of
babies and women blown apart in Gaza? American’s
driving behemoth trucks into global disaster. The absurdity
goes on and on. Look at the news on any given day.

That said, there DOES seem to be unexplainable mysteries
on the edge of our perception. I have glimpsed it in nature. I
have been humbled by unexpected kindness from strangers
who were poor yet took me to their bosom. It was NEVER the rich.
IF there is something bigger, then we have no say in what it
does with us. IF it is beyond our understanding (The Christian
God calls us “DUST”) , then we have to hope that it does right
in the end…but to whom? The Jews, the Christians, the Muslims?
The Jews are bent on exterminating the Muslims, the Muslims
wanting death to the infidels, the Christians sleeping with guns
    under their pillow.

All I see are biological beings driven by genetics and hormones,
clubbing each other like cavemen in between worshiping their
respective religion. Some people find comfort in the rituals.
Who can blame them? It’s an angry bloody planet. Yet the irony
is thick with the suffering of millions due to those very religions.
Good luck. ENJOY today, Be KIND when you can.
Until we learn to stop terrorizing and murdering children, then
neither Religion nor Spirituality are any good and there is no hope.

Happy Birthday, Fred. You have been a candle in the dark.
